Carter Hampson
Morning
The person lying on the ground barely able to move.
His motorcycle scattered throughout the street.
people crowding around him trying to help.
This all started on my way to Loyola Summer School.
He sped through a red light with a flash
We all saw it coming, the crash was silent but hit like a truck
The world I love The tears I drop To be part of The wave, can't stop
Through the window of the red flashy car, we saw the man texting.
When they hit it felt like slow motion but the world moved at the same speed.
The Huge Bad-ass man lying on the street helpless and scared
With nothing else to do but wait for the ambulance, we called his mom
His bike was scattered throughout the street and it felt like a war zone.
As I look out from the window I see a big lump in the road unable to move
No cars came to a stop to help that weren't already there
The few that did try to help as much as they could
The world I love The tears I drop To be part of The wave, can't stop
The ambulance showed up and took him away
My family had nothing to say about what had just happened
We just sat there awestruck with disgust at the people who didn't stop
My mom had been helping the whole time
We looked at her as if she was a hero
I have always looked up to her but what she did there made us praise her.
