There Was No Farm for Spirit

My parent's first dog was full of Spirit

No surprise his name was "Spirit".

He was only 6 months old, when my parents were told

He needed a home. Would they take Spirit?

Next came another rescue named Jessie

She was not at all full of Spirit.

For a few years they ruled the house.

My parents loved Jessie and Spirit.

Next came children, 1, 2, 3, 4.

Then the house was full of Spirit.

Things got busy fast and animals and people grew

Children played and ran along with Jessie and Spirit.

Time passed and the dogs got old

Jessie got mellow and lost her spirit.

Spirit got difficult and played a bit rough

The children were afraid of old Spirit.

One day mom and dad made a difficult decision

That night there was no more Spirit

For years we believed what our parents said

That there was a farm better for Spirit

But the truth would prevail and Ilana's hearts would sink

When mom and dad shared the truth about Spirit

How To Be A Biery

Take one whole Geri Nager and one whole Joel Nager. Combine them in South Euclid Ohio which is in Cleveland, and you will get Ben, David, and Jacqui Nager, and put them aside.

Then take one whole Barbara Biery and one whole James Biery. Combine them in a very small town called Jamestown Pennsylvania and you will get Jim, Pamela, Carol, Tom and Bill Biery and put them aside.

Take Jacqui Nager and Tom Biery mix them in a concert club in Cleveland.

Mix them for 5 years until they are ready to get married.

Once they are married and living in California. Blend their blue and hazel brown eyes until you get the perfect texture of Joel, Talia, Levi, and Ilana.

During the next few years pour all of the delicious foods that Jacqui cooks down their throats, add water as needed, and lots of unconditional love. You may notice some yelling on occasion, this is normal, but it is okay to turn up the heat, just don't let it boil. When this happens it is frustrating, but it won't ruin the dish. Just try to get it back to a simmer. Continue to add unconditional love and you will begin to notice that Joel, Talia, Levi, and Ilana will start to cook on their own.

When Joel applies to college and gets accepted, the first part of the dish is ready, put it aside and begin to prepare Talia for the college application process. Followed by Levi and Ilana.

You might consider adding Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois or New York to the menu for college and family. It helps when preparing this recipe to add familiar flavors where the dish has roots. All of the extra ingredients live over in that area. In a blink of an eye, your Biery family will be ready to eat!

There are many ways to eat the Bierys. One of the best ways to serve this dish is the family style at a table full of talking people. You can also enjoy the meal outside during the summer the only problem is they might be loud and annoy the neighbors! Once you finish eating Jacqui or Tom will do the dishes. Tom will probably skip away from the dish and go downstairs to his office and work until you finally grab him out to put Ilana to bed, where he ends up falling asleep. Once the entire family goes to bed Holiday the dog and the other dog Vida finally fall asleep in the kids' room.
