Thomas Buckley Jr.

Traveling From Ireland

My family came to America from Ireland.

They came there just before the Revolutionary War.

They fled Ireland because of a large famine in Ireland.

They left most of their family and friends.

My family never went back to Ireland.

They got on the steamboat to America and never looked back.

They left the watery, wet, sea-smelling Ireland,

For bustling America, right in the middle of the Revolutionary War.

They left the starving Ireland

For rich America.

My family grew in Ireland.

Then they parted in their pursuit of finding a better life.

My family didn't grow much in Ireland.

But they went far in America.

Someday I hope to visit Ireland.

I hope to see where my family began.

In the Revolutionary War, my family came from Ireland.

And they came to the land of opportunity.

Now the Buckleys do not live in Ireland.

They live in their brand new home, America.

The Buckley Recipe

Take dysfunctionality and love and you have your first ingredients.

Mix it with sarcasm and bad jokes and you have your first combination.

Blend that mix with good cooking skills and bad luck,

Then pour a fun personality and practical jokes together.

Stir until the nearly perfect combination is made.

Have lots of fun with the recipe, because if you don't, then it will be too perfect.

The mixture should look extremely pale because that should be the skin color.

It is okay to make mistakes on the recipe because you don't want it to be too perfect.

To add more flavor, feel free to put in sprinkles or a colorful personality.

If you like, you can always put in a short-tempered attitude.

Next, you always have to put in an unusually tall trait.

Mix all of these many ingredients together.

Stir for as long as you want.

Depending on how long you stir, a personality will vary.

The texture may vary from soft and frothy to hard and crisp.

For reference, my mom is soft and my Grandma is hard and brittle.

Let it sit for a few minutes.

The precise time is four minutes, but it shouldn't be perfect.

After it has sat for awhile, grab a few more ingredients.

It doesn't really matter what ingredients, just put in what you like!

I know this is sort of a vague recipe, and that's exactly what you're supposed to be going for!

Next, bake in an oven for as long as seen fit.

Just like the stir, it can be from frothy to hard.

It is recommended that you do not burn it to a crisp.

Cook it at three hundred degrees.

After, take it out of the oven with some care, but if you drop it, it still doesn't matter.

The outcome should be a Buckley!

It should not be perfect, but almost.

It is finished and,

Have fun with the tasting!
